Ceramics and Welding
During my freshman year in high school I took a semester 2 class called ceramics and welding. In this class I learned how to make art in ways that I didn't usually do. I learned about abstract 3-dimensional art that challenged the way that you think about sculptures. We mostly worked with clay in the ceramics part but did construct small things out of wood. The class also learned how to weld in 3 different ways; stick, oxyacetylene, and mig welding. I thought that all the things that we learned were useful and I had fun learning about them too. My teachers were, Mr. Becker for sculpture, and Mr. Boehm for welding
After high school I began practicing violin on my own.
I played trumpet from 6th grade until 8th grade in a traditional class style but in high school continued my trumpet practices privately after sophomore year.
Piano was one of the classes that I have taken with VAHS, in this class I learned how to play the piano in a semester long course. The group that I was with would often present in front of the class and show what you have been doing. The class is mostly independent and almost always at a piano. The teacher that I was taught from was Mrs. Georgeson. I learned a lot of new things from this class and got to learn to play an instrument that I have always found interesting and beautiful sounding. This was a class that I took my sophomore year and am glad that I took it.
